Due to continued growth and expansion of services, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing design and installation development of HVAC and Building Automation Systems and equipment. You will work on a team to ensure all aspects of small and large projects are managed effectively and are finished on-time with high standards of quality.

Position Purpose

In a cooperative, enthusiastic environment, the Mechanical Project Engineer must be capable of supporting and assisting various departments to take projects to completion ensuring that the delivery of products and services meet and exceed the requirements and expectations of our clients.

Mechanical Project Engineer

Duties:

  • Collaborating and assisting Estimator / Project Manager / Design Team by applying engineering principles in the research, estimating, designing and installation of HVAC and Building Automation (BAS) systems and equipment.

  • Developing complete customized design solutions, and put together detail drawing packages.

  • Ensure all design documentation and drawings conform to internal standards and industry practice.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure project success.

  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations.

  • Travel to customer sites to finalize project requirements or assist in commissioning of systems and equipment when required.

  • Support other projects to ensure the engineering needs are met.

  • Attend weekly project meetings.

  • Provide timely status of projects and / or problem identification and resolution.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist (preferably Canadian trained) with minimum 3 years’ experience. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering also desirable.

  • Must have work experience in HVAC /R and Building Automation (BAS) systems, equipment and design.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems and equipment an asset.

  • Ability to work well as a team.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced ever changing environment.

Desired education:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (mechanical preferred)
