FortisBC Gas Building is located in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, in the Okanagan Valley. At over 60,000 square feet, the building is used to calibrate commercial and industrial gas values.
The customer needed to replace their aging equipment with new, more efficient units. The project had to be on budget and on time, and Kimco needed to be flexible to a project start date that was aligned with the owner’s needs, with little advance notice.
Additional complications included:
Project management and co-ordination with owner and tenants around their work and delivery schedules was key to the success of this project, as overall operations and employee comfort could not be compromised during installation. Our team of three worked early in the morning so that downtime was limited and new units could be running before high demand from the RTUs was needed. Multiple sizes of cranes were required, due to the weight and location of the rooftop units.
Critically, the upgrade could not disrupt building services, (such as electrical, natural gas, sewer or water) and it was essential to maintain temperature thresholds in all areas during the installation.
Kimco has also completed lighting upgrades at the Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon Fortis locations.
