Built to meet Gold LEED Green Building Standards, Mar Jok Elementary was built ahead of schedule despite tight deadlines. This 42,500 square foot facility can house up to 460 students from kindergarten to grade six, and includes a full-size gymnasium, sports field and two levels of classrooms. It also has a Neighbourhood Learning Centre which offers various fitness, recreational, sports and dance programs. The school’s open-concept design is energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and uses wood from British Columbia.
Kimco integrated the Mar Jok Elementary’s systems with the help of our enteliWEB software and enteliBUS hardware, offering complete control over the heating and cooling plants serving the many offices and classrooms in the facility. Kimco also installed special lighting control, utilizing a daylight harvesting programming strategy and energy metering.
Kimco installed a state of the art geothermal exchange system which is monitored and controlled via the building automation system. Programming strategies and seasonal monitoring are the key to this system’s success.
