Man’s best friend is also Kimco’s best friend. Our pets are a part of our community, so when we help our neighbours in the Okanagan, that includes the furry ones, too! Through internal fundraising we held at Kimco over the holidays, our team raised $3,000 for the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA). It was with pride and a few friendly pets that our building automation, HVAC, and electrical team handed the cheque over at the BC SPCA headquarters in Kelowna in February.

“At Kimco, local is in our DNA, and that means supporting local organizations,” said Mark Janssen, Director of HVAC and Sales. “That goes for the people in our community, but also our four-legged friends. We admire the hard work that the BC SPCA is doing and wanted to help.”

How the BC SPCA Makes A Difference

The BC SPCA works hard. In 2021, the BC SPCA helped 118,917 animals! That’s almost 22,000 more than the year prior. Last year, the organization also:

  • Found homes for 8,704 animals
  • Reunited 2,485 lost pets with their families
  • Provided 12,418 nights of emergency pet boarding for victims of wildfires, floods, and domestic violence

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Learn more about the amazing work they do here.

Community Care at Kimco

Helping each other is a pillar of everything that Kimco stands for as a people-first company. That goes for so much more than HVAC technicians. It includes caring for our staff but also caring for our community. We support our neighbours in the Thompson-Okanagan through ongoing partnerships with organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of the Okanagan, Maple Springs Bible Camp, JoeAnna’s House, Rutland Youth Soccer Association, and Cranbrook Bucks. If a team member brings forward a cause that means something to them, it means something to us.

Work with experts in HVAC, electrical, and automation in Kelowna who care about their community as much as they care about your HVAC system. See what Kimco can do for you today.
