At Kimco, we’ve built our reputation on more than just building automation systems, commercial HVAC, and electrical services—we’ve built it on people. Chris Howard’s 27-year journey with the company is a perfect example of that. From working in the field on industrial HVAC controls to leading from the office as a DDC Support Technician, Chris’s career with Kimco reflects our commitment to growing talent from within and supporting our team both on and off the job site.
Chris’s story is also a family one—his daughter Anaiya works here part-time as an assistant and marketing coordinator while pursuing post-secondary studies. Together, they prove that the connection runs deep when a company values its people.

Q&A with Chris Howard, DDC Support Technician
Q: How would you describe the work culture at Kimco?
A: “The work culture here truly feels like being part of a family. There’s a strong sense of support and connection among the team, which creates a happy and positive environment. It’s where people enjoy coming to work each day, not just because of what they do, but because of who they get to work with.”
Q: You transitioned from the field to an office role—what was that shift like, and how did Kimco support you?
A: “The shift to the office allowed me to spend more time with my family and actually be home. When I was working in the field, I was often out of town, which made it difficult to be present with my kids. When a position opened up in the office as a DDC Support Technician, the company supported me in making that transition without question because they understood how important it was to me.”
Q: Over your career, what growth or changes have you seen at Kimco, and where do you think it’s headed?
A: “Over the years, I’ve seen the company grow into a well-organized and efficient operation, with clearer rules and guidelines that support both employees and clients. Having been with the company for 27 years, I’ve watched it evolve into the close-knit, family-like environment it is today. What stands out is the company’s constant drive to expand and improve—we are always looking for new ways to serve our community and continue growing in meaningful ways.”
