Swinging for Good — Kimco at the George Waskiewich Memorial Golf Day

Last week, the fairways of the Quail Course at Okanagan Golf Club got a little more Kimco energy as Al Benjaminsen (with his son at his side), Brock MacDonald, and Blake Sidoni teed off in the Annual George Waskiewich Memorial Golf Classic / RSL Golf Day.

The Quail is known for dramatic elevation changes, forested routing, and multi-tiered fairways. (Okanagan Golf Club – Quail Course) It’s a fitting stage for a day where sport and community meet — both in the crisp morning tee shots over pines and in the camaraderie beyond the greens.

Faces (and swings) behind the clubs

• Al Benjaminsen and his son — A father-son duo always draws attention. Al, veteran troubleshooter of ductwork and chillers, brought steady confidence off the tee. His son chipped in with support, laughter, and some surprisingly sharp putts.
• Brock MacDonald — Calm, measured, and friendly. Brock played with the focus you'd expect from someone deeply familiar with HVAC schematics. His drive on hole 12 had the group nodding — “that’s textbook form,” someone muttered.
• Blake Sidoni — Known around Kimco for turning impossible installs into “how-did-he-do-that” success stories. On the course, Blake brought the same grit. A few bogeys didn’t rattle him — his attitude stayed in “play your shot and reset” mode all day.

Together, they represented Kimco not just with clubs, but with heart: friendly banter, helping each other read putts, and enjoying the event’s spirit more than the score.
