Kimco Controls' Kelowna office team traded desks for the stands at Prospera Place to cheer on the Rockets against the Portland Winterhawks.

Plenty of the people who keep Kimco Controls running never set foot on a jobsite. Our Kelowna office team books the service calls and builds the estimates behind every project, so on October 21, we took them out to Prospera Place for a Kelowna Rockets game and a night off together.

Cheering On the Rockets at Prospera Place

The Rockets hosted the Portland Winterhawks, and it was a close one from the opening faceoff. Jacob Henderson (#27) scored both Kelowna goals, and by the time it went to overtime and then a shootout, the whole arena was on edge.

Portland took it 3-2 in the shootout (not the ending we were cheering for), but our team still left with plenty to talk about and a reminder that some of the best team building happens away from the office.

The things that make a good hockey team, like moving the puck and backing each other up, are the same things that make our office work. A night like this gives people from different departments a chance to talk about something other than work orders, and it gives us a chance to thank them properly.

The People Behind Every Project and Service Call

From the first phone call to the final invoice, our Kelowna office team is part of every job Kimco Controls does across the Okanagan and BC Interior, whether it's commercial HVAC, building automation, or electrical services.

Our front office administration team keeps the day-to-day on the rails. They coordinate admin work across our service and construction departments, handle customer inquiries, process invoices, and follow up to make sure every customer gets what they need. Their work happens behind a desk, but it reaches every department and every customer we serve.

Keeping Service Moving One Call at a Time

When a customer calls about a leaking air conditioner or a ventilation problem, our dispatch team is usually the first voice they hear, and the phone call is only the start. Dispatchers line up the right technician and parts for each service request, then keep that technician in the loop until the job's done.

From the start of the workday until the phones switch over to after-hours support, they're juggling competing priorities and customer concerns so every caller knows their request is in good hands.

The Team Behind Building Automation and Construction

Our automation service and construction administration teams handle the side of a building project most people never see. They spend their days supporting building automation systems, reviewing project drawings, preparing system graphics, managing documentation, and coordinating with project partners, and none of it leaves much room for error.

A building automation system is what keeps a building comfortable and efficient day to day. The planning and paperwork this team handles before and during a project is how we know the system we hand over meets the spec, even with several projects at different stages at once.

Estimating Every Job Before It Starts

Before a project gets underway, our estimating team is already at work. Our estimators dig into the project requirements and work with suppliers on pricing and material availability, so the proposal a customer receives fits both their budget and their timeline.

Setting clear expectations from day one makes for smoother projects, and it's how we build stronger relationships with our customers and industry partners. Our managers tie it all together. They set priorities and guide their teams so every department pulls in the same direction and delivers the service customers expect from Kimco Controls.
