Working Hard, Playing Harder: How Kimco Shows Up for Community & Industry
Published on: June 11, 2025
Kimco supports community and industry, from EFMA 2025 to Rutland’s Mini World Cup. Discover how Kimco Control builds trust through technology and local engagement.

The Kimco team at EFMA 2025 in Penticton shares tech insights and some hockey spirit with BC school leaders.
At Kimco, being a provider of HVAC, electrical, and building automation services in British Columbia is about more than delivering technical expertise—it’s about showing up where it counts. From industry conferences to youth soccer tournaments, we’re proud to be part of the conversations, communities, and events that help shape the places we live and work.
Hats On, Screens Up: Kimco at EFMA 2025
We recently joined our longtime partners Ainsworth and Delta Controls at the EFMA Conference in Penticton, BC—an event we’ve supported for over a decade. With a focus on connecting school districts from across the province, this conference is always a highlight for our team. We shared insights on building automation systems and how smart technologies are helping BC’s schools stay efficient, safe, and future-ready.
True to form, this year’s event had a country-western theme, and our team leaned in—boots, hats, and all. We made space for genuine conversations and new connections by sponsoring the event, co-hosting the golf tournament, and broadcasting Game 1 of the Oilers vs. Panthers on our 65" screen.
When we talk about building automation, we’re not just referring to systems—we’re talking about building trust, too.

From the Jobsite to the Soccer Field: Mini World Cup Magic
The week didn’t end in Penticton. Back in Rutland, our team was proud to sponsor the RYSA Mini World Cup, where hundreds of youth players took to the field to celebrate sport, teamwork, and community spirit.
As a sponsor—and with one of ours serving on the RYSA board—this event was a great reminder of why we do what we do. Kimco’s roots are deeply embedded in the Okanagan, and we believe in investing in events that bring people together, both on and off the field.

Game faces on! Kimco joined the Mini World Cup in Rutland as a sponsor and a proud RYSA board member.
Why We Invest in People, Not Just Projects
Whether delivering building automation for school facilities or providing energy and support at a community event, leadership is about presence. We bring professionalism and precision to every job, but the relationships we build—with clients, partners, and our team—make our work meaningful.
Beyond the Ball and the Boardroom: More Ways Kimco Gives Back
At Kimco, our commitment to the Okanagan extends far beyond conferences and tournaments. We’re honoured to support—and in many cases actively participate in—initiatives that uplift families, neighbours, and the communities we call home:
-
Supporting youth across the Valley: In January 2021, our team raised and matched donations through our annual Christmas 50/50 to give $3,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Okanagan, helping support safe after‑school programming. -
Cheering local sports: We’re proud of our $4,000 gift to the Cranbrook Bucks, which supports grassroots hockey and demonstrates our ongoing belief in fostering strong, local teams. Check it out: Kimco Makes $4,000 Donation to Cranbrook Bucks.
-
Caring for pets and wildlife: Our “Beyond Building Automation” fundraiser in 2022 raised $3,000 for the BC SPCA, underscoring our dedication to all community members—four‑legged ones included. Read more: Beyond Building Automation.
-
Holiday giving in Kelowna: Our December 2023 staff party included a 50/50 draw and matching donation to Mamas for Mamas, bringing in $2,640 in support and underscoring our “people-first” values. Details here: Kimco, a community‑minded technology company, gives back to Kelowna
Each of these efforts reflects our deep belief that Kimco’s success is inseparable from the health and vibrancy of our communities—from Kelowna to Cranbrook and beyond.
